Continuous vs. episodic measurement in MCAS

We compare continuous monitoring against episodic clinical measurement for characterizing MCAS, quantifying how much information is lost when observation is limited to discrete time points.

The measurement gap

Episodic testing captures a single moment, often on a day chosen for convenience rather than clinical relevance. For a condition defined by variability, that sampling strategy can systematically miss the events that matter most.

What continuity adds

Continuous observation reframes the question from "what is the value now?" to "how does this person's physiology move over time?" — revealing trajectories, thresholds, and triggers invisible to point sampling.

For episodic, individualized conditions like MCAS, continuous monitoring is not merely more data; it is a different and more faithful representation of the underlying process.
