Abstract
We assess heart rate variability as a continuously measurable window into the autonomic shifts that frequently accompany mast cell activation.
Autonomic involvement
Mast cell activation frequently coincides with autonomic changes, and heart rate variability is a well-established, non-invasive proxy for autonomic state that a wearable can track continuously.
What we see
In continuous recordings, HRV shifts often accompany reported activation, and when combined with other signals they improve the separation between activation windows and baseline.
Context
HRV is influenced by many factors, so it is most useful as one channel within a multi-parametric model rather than a standalone marker.
